The Bar & Restaurant Expo (formally Nightclub & Bar Show) took place in Las Vegas earlier this week and ADJ was represented heavily across the show floor. Alongside a booth showcasing the company’s latest lighting, LED video and atmospheric effect generating equipment, a variety of ADJ fixtures were also used to bring to life the Sports Bar feature area at the heart of the expo floor and the company also served as the show’s official Video Wall Sponsor.
Hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Bar & Restaurant Expo brings together owners, managers, and key staff members of nightlife venues from across the USA. It offers an opportunity to discover the latest culinary and beverage trends as well as to find out about new technology that can streamline their workflow and enhance the experience of their patrons. As the hospitality sector looks to bounce back from the challenges of the global pandemic, this year’s event was extremely well attended. There was an atmosphere of optimism, with attendees glad to be back at a trade show and focusing on building their businesses for a prosperous future.
The ADJ booth was busy throughout the show, with a steady stream of visitors finding out from ADJ’s knowledgeable team how they could use lighting, LED video, and atmospheric effects to take their customer experience to the next level. While all the products on display generated lots of interest, the Vision Series of LED video panels particularly caught the attention of many attendees. From sports bars showing game day footage to lounges playing music videos, many venue owners could see how these bright, modular, and well-priced display panels could work for their businesses.
Music on the stand was provided through speakers from ADJ's sister company, Avante Audio. Achromic A12 tops and A18S subs ensured a great sound for the guest DJs who dropped by to play sets. Other highlights included the new Jolt Panel FX, a multifunctional strobe / wash / audience blinder fixture that features a huge array of LEDs divided into multiple independently controllable zones across a central strip of white and two surrounding sections of RGB LEDs. The Fog Fury Jett LED-lit vertical fog machine also caught the imagination of many attendees, demonstrated using the ADJ Quick Dissipating Fog Fluid that allows the creation of CO2-style effects without the hassle and expense of procuring and storing actual C02. Finally, ADJ’s growing range of IP65-rated LED wash fixtures and Hydro Series moving heads sparked a lot of interest from attendees.
“A growing trend that we’ve recognized within the nightlife industry,” comments ADJ USA’s National Sales Manager, Alfred Gonzales, “is that many venues are choosing to install IP65-rated fixtures even indoors. This is because the units are not only protected from the rain and dirt that luminaires have to contend with when used outside but also the dust, humidity and wayward drinks that they are subject to inside a bar, lounge or club. Despite the higher initial investment, IP65-rated fixtures require a reduced maintenance schedule and are likely to offer an extended operational life, which makes them a sound long-term investment for venue owners and managers.”
As the 2022 Bar & Restaurant Expo’s official Video Wall Sponsor, ADJ supplied two LED displays constructed from Vision Series VS2 LED panels for the event. One screen was positioned at the front of the expo, welcoming visitors as they arrived, while the second was located at the back of the hall. Both walls were used to display custom video content and branding that provided visitors with useful information while also enhancing the show’s aesthetic. The VS2 is a high-resolution video panel with a tight pixel pitch of 2.97mm and a brightness of 1000 NITS, it offers a low minimum viewing distance and is front serviceable and therefore ideal for installation in all types of nightlife venue.
ADJ was also an official sponsor of the show’s Sports Bar feature area, which was located at the heart of the expo floor. This experiential bar allowed visitors to discover (and taste!) the newest drink trends as well as experience the latest in hospitality venue technology. This included a variety of ADJ lighting fixtures which illuminated the space and also enhanced the ambiance of the bar. The new Encore Lime Par IP65-rated fixtures, featuring quad color (RGB + Lime) LEDs for sensational brightness and a high CRI, were used to wash the bar. Eight of the Encore LP18IP and four of the smaller Encore LP7IP models were deployed throughout the space, which feature 18 and 7 potent 20-Watt LEDs, respectively. In addition, four of ADJ’s Vizi Beam 12RX moving head luminaires sat at the top of truss totems positioned at each corner of the bar. These projected aerial effects above the bar and also shot beams out around it, which helps to draw attention to the feature. Control for the lighting setup was provided by an ADJ MyDMX RM rack-mount push button playback device, while the DMX signal was distributed to the truss totems using the WiFly EXR Battery wireless transceiver. Audio for the bar was also supplied by ADJ’s sister company Avante Audio, with Imperio tops and Achromic A18S subs filling the space with evenly distributed crystal-clear sound.
Next in ADJ’s global trade show calendar is the international Prolight+Sound show, taking place in Frankfurt, Germany, April 26 thru 29. In the US, ADJ will be exhibiting at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA, June 3 thru 5, before heading back to Las Vegas, NV the following week for the 2022 Infocomm exhibition which will run June 8 thru 10.
