Brawn "Plus" Beauty:American Audio Introduces Heavy-Hitting, Sleeker-LookingV-"Plus" Power Amplifiers
LOS ANGELES --American Audio has turned up the juice and poured on the charm with the introduction of its V-"Plus" Series Power Amplifiers. The V-1000 Plus, V-2000 Plus, V-3000 Plus, and V-4000 Plus bring both enhanced performance and a sleek new look to the companys already popular V-Series amps.
The new line offers DJs, musicians and audio engineers more power than ever in a versatile package that comes at a refreshingly affordable price, just like the original V-Series. In fact, many of the same features that helped make the V-Series such a huge hit still apply to the upgraded V-"Plus" Series -- benefits like modular construction, high-quality output devices, large storage capability, small profile capacitors (for reproducing large transients), and a true linear design.
"The V-Plus Series amplifiers perform better and look better, period," said John Brown, national sales manager for American Audio. "In our book, thats two for the plus column."
The V-1000 "Plus" provides 170 watts per channel at 8 ohm, 245 watts at 4 ohm, and 600 watts at 4 ohm bridged. The V-2000 "Plus" turns it up a notch to 280 watts (@8 ohm), 450 watts (@4 ohm) and 1,290 watts (@4 ohm bridged). The powerhouse V-3000 "Plus" blasts 440 watts (@8 ohm), 690 watts (@4 ohm), and 1,930 watts (@4 ohm bridged). And the top-of-the-line V-4000 "Plus" makes the most thunder of all, delivering a whopping 600 watts (@8 ohm), 1,010 watts (@4 ohm), and 2,500 watts (@4 ohm bridged).
The V-"Plus" Series is designed to be eye-catching as well. A sleek brushed aluminum finish adds cosmetic appeal and brings out the true luster of each unit. "The V-Plus series has a distinctive look that goes hand in hand with its professional features," Brown said. "On stage, these amps look as good as they sound."
Identical in weight and dimensions to their V-Series predecessors, the V-"Plus" amplifiers include 80V 10,000-microfarad capacitors to facilitate reproduction of the largest transients, polypropylene capacitors for high sound quality, and G10 FR4 circuit boards to provide maximum shock protection as well as easy field service. American Audio tests each circuit board prior to final assembly.
The V-4000 "Plus" comes equipped with speak-on connectors as well as binding post connectors, making it equally suitable for use by DJs, touring musicians, or permanent installations. "Having both types of connectors makes this an extremely versatile unit," Brown said. "The V-4000 Plus was designed to meet a wide range of professional audio demands."
Other specifications for the V-4000 "Plus" include a Total Harmonic Distortion of 20Hz-20Khz @ rated output 8 ohm, less than 0.02%. Frequency response is 10Hz-40Khz, +/- 1dB and 20Hz-20Khz, +/- 0.2dB. Hum & Noise below rated output 8 ohm is 100dB (unweighted). Power consumption: 20A@120V AC. The V4000 also comes equipped with two large dual-speed fans and heatsink, two limiters (one per channel), two hi-pass filters (30Hz, 50Hz), and a Toroidal transformer. Dimensions are 5.2"H x 19"W x 15.9"D. The V-4000 "Plus" is priced at $799.99.
