LOS ANGELES - Colors and gobos... shrouds of fog ...strobing ...light beams chasing to the music. . Light shows are more exciting when they blend a variety of different special effects. So why should a DJ's lighting controller be limited to operating one type of fixture only?
The answer is it doesn't have to be, thanks to the new SC 816 System from Light Stream Controls (LSC). An innovative 4-in-1 lighting control system, the SC 816 System can handle a wide variety of fixtures and effects, from non-DMX special effects to strobe lights, foggers and chase control.
The SC 816 System is built around the versatile SC SP8 Controller, one compact, affordable unit that is actually four controllers in one. The SC SP8 Controller is capable of functioning as: 1) an 8-Channel (non-DMX) Lighting Controller; 2) a Strobe Controller; 3) a Fog Machine Trigger Button; and 4) a Chase Controller Button.
"Today's mobile and club DJs include a variety of effects in their light shows, so we wanted to develop one controller that can handle all their needs," said Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies, the parent company of Light Stream Controls. "With the SC 816 System, DJs can run their entire light show from one controller.
"It's really convenient, and it eliminates the problem of `controller clutter' in the DJ booth," added Davies. "Also, because the SC 816 System is such a versatile lighting control system, it provides a great dollar value to the end user."
In each of its four modes, the SC SP8 Controller is equipped with features geared toward user convenience. As an 8-channel lighting controller, it features On/Off and Flash controls for each channel.
As a Strobe Controller, the SC SP8 is compatible with most 0-10 volt strobes. It offers adjustable strobe speed, ranging from 0-10 flashes per second.
The SC SP8's Fog Machine Trigger Button is compatible with selected American DJ fog machines (sold separately), including the Vaporizer, Vapor Flow, Fog Storm 1200 and Fog Storm 1700. LED indicators tell when the fog machine is in "Heating" and "Ready" modes.
The SC SP8's Chase Controller Button will trigger LSC's T-16F Foot Control Chaser (sold separately). The T-16F comes with 16 built-in chase programs and can chase by way of sound activation or 3 chase speeds.
Also included on the SC SP8 Controller is a stand-by (black out) mode. The controller is built with high quality triacs for longer life.
In addition to the 4-in-1 SC SP8 Controller, the SC 816 System includes an SC 8C Switch Pack and a 25-foot extension cable. The SC 8C is an 8-channel switch pack with a maximum load of 15 amps or 1800 watts per relay pack. It features circuit breaker protection and comes with a hanging bracket.
The SC SP8 Controller measures 3"L x 19"W x 1.75"H and weighs 2 lbs. The SC 8C Switch Pack measures 10.5"H x 7.7"W x 3"H and weighs 6.5 lbs. The suggested retail price of the SC 816 System is $169.95
