DMX Operator II Press Release

American DJ Unveils DMX Operator II: New, Enhanced Version Of Popular Controller Can Copy Fixture Settings, Trigger Fog & More!

LOS ANGELES -- American DJ has taken affordable DMX lighting controllers to the next generation with the DMX Operator II. An updated version of the company's popular DMX Operator 12-channel controller, the DMX Operator II offers some terrific new features that make it easier than ever for DJs, clubs and stage managers to put on a dazzling intelligent light show.

Among the deluxe features that have been added to the DMX Operator II are: Pan and Tilt Scroll Wheels; a Fog Effect Trigger Button; and Fixture Setting Copying (the ability to copy settings from one fixture to another). The addition of these features puts one of today's most affordable multi-unit DMX controllers in a class with upper-end "luxury" models -- without the high price.

"When the original DMX Operator was introduced, it was hailed as an affordable solution for a controlling all of a DJ or club's DMX products," said Scott Davies, general manager of American DJ. "Now with the new DMX Operator II, we have added some user conveniences and high-tech features that you would expect to see on a much more expensive controller. We're talking Lexus features at a Chevy price."

For example, the DMX Operator II's Fixture Setting Copying feature is a cutting-edge tool that makes it easier and much less time-consuming to program fixtures. The controller has the ability to automatically copy settings from one fixture to another, as quickly and easily as a word processing program can "copy and paste" text. This makes it possible to duplicate settings from fixture to fixture instantly, without having to go through the steps of re-programming each unit individually.

"Say you put in a lot of programming on one fixture, and you would like to repeat it on a second or third fixture, either as an exact replication or maybe with just a few modifications," explained Davies. "With Fixture Setting Copying, you don't have to go in and program the second fixture all over again. You can simply copy and paste your original programming onto it. This really saves time and makes life a lot easier for the user."

Another feature that makes life easier is the DMX Operator II's Fog Machine Trigger button, which puts the capability of adding fog effects right at the user's fingertips. The controller has been designed to work with three American DJ fog machines -- the Master Blaster 1000, Stallion and Vaporizer. "The Fog Trigger Button eliminates the need to have an external remote control for a fogger," said Davies. "Everything can be operated with one controller, so you can add fog to your show without having any cables or mess."

Of course, the DMX Operator II still has all the features that made its predecessor one of the most popular all-around lighting controllers for budget-minded DJs and clubs who want to control a wide range of DMX fixtures. It is equipped with 12 individual fixture channels, each capable of controlling up to 16 DMX channels per fixture, for a total of 192 DMX channels. (Fixtures with fewer than 16 DMX channels can be combined on one DMX scanner button, so it's actually possible to control more than 12 fixtures.)

Users can record up to 6 programmable chases with fade time and speeds. A Blind Function allows users to override chases on the fly. The DMX Operator II includes 8 individual faders to provide easy programmability for intelligent lighting or dimmer packs. The controller was designed to be used in conjunction with American DJ's PP-DMX20L Power Pack or DP-DMX20L Dimmer Pack.

A MIDI controllable unit, the DMX Operator II includes a built-in microphone and remote control.. Lightweight and compact for easy portability, it weighs 5 lbs. and measures 5.25"L x 19"W x 2.5"H. A 19-inch rack mount unit, it takes 3 rack spaces.

Along with a wide range of DMX products, another thing the DMX Operator II will control is costs. Suggested list price is just $569.95.
