DCD-PRO500 Dual CD Player Press Release
American Audio Adds Top-Of-LineDCD-PRO500 Dual CD Player

LOS ANGELES -- American Audio is bringing new tricks to the DJ trade with the DCD-PRO500, its most advanced Professional Dual CD Player to date. Like other models in the DCD Series, the PRO500 offers features that have become a "must" for todays professional DJs, such as Sampling, Seamless Loop and Fader Q Start, but it goes beyond other dual CD players with its new, amazing wizard-like capabilities.

For instance, the DCD-PRO500 is equipped with 6 Flash Start Buttons, which allow DJs to create, store and recall samples "on the fly" while music is playing. With this feature, the disc jockey can play a loop of, say five seconds, then sample it and save it in stored memory on one of the Flash Start Buttons. As the CD continues to play, whenever the button is hit, the stored sample will come on instantly. Six samples per CD side can be stored on the Flash Start Buttons. If the CD is taken out and a new one put in, the original samples will remain in storage for instant recall.

Another impressive feature of the DCD-PRO500 is its ability to store and recall up to 80 previously-created samples, putting an enormous library of sound at the disc jockeys fingertips. DJs can also use this feature to store and recall loops and cue points.

"The DCD-PRO500 gives DJs a greatly expanded bag of tricks to use in their shows," said John Brown, national sales manager for American Audio. "Todays disc jockeys have become artists in their own right. Theyre looking for audio gear with more sophisticated capabilities that they can use to create their own original mixes, sounds and cuts. The DCD-PRO500 provides DJs with a cutting-edge tool thats actually more like a high-tech instrument than a CD player."

Speed is another ingredient thats demanded by todays professional DJs, and the DCD-PRO500 is a lightning quick unit. It offers True Instant Start, a feature that completely eliminates dead space. Theres no waiting after a CD side is finished playing either, thanks to the units Flip Flop Button (Relay Playback), which will automatically switch over to the second side of the CD and start playing it. The Flip Flop feature also gives DJs the option of switching from side to side at the end of each song.

Although it offers a lot of "tricks," theres nothing tricky about using the DCD-PRO500. Designed for working pros, its packed with conveniences that make it easy to use in club and mobile applications. For instance, it has all-new ergonomically-designed rubber Play, Cue, Flash and Start buttons, and a large, bright LCD display for maximum-visibility. Additionally, it includes Mechanical Anti-Skip Protection to safeguard against bumps and knocks, and a 60-Second Transport Protection feature, which causes the open tray to close automatically after one minute.

"Our products are designed by DJs for DJs," said Brown. "So we know the types of features that disc jockeys value in real-world applications."

One of the features that DJs will most appreciate is the DCD-PRO500s value price. It sells for just $1,249.95 manufacturers suggested retail. "This is an unbelievably low price for a CD player with Fader Q Start and so many other features," pointed out Brown.

Like other CD players in the DCD series, the PRO500 is compatible with all American Audio Q-Series mixers. Together, the DCD and Q-series products offer a "one-two Fader Q Start CD player/mixer combination" thats priced much lower than comparable units.

Other major features of the DCD-PRO 500 include: Pitch Bend, Selectable Pitch Control, 30 Programmable Play Tracks on each side, 6 Different Speed Scans, Direct Time Entry, Beat Counter, Frame Search, and a unique Bop Effect. The unit is compatible with 3 in./8 cm. singles, and it will read CD Recordable (CDR) disks.
