Movin' Up To A Moving Head: American DJ's Auto Spot 150 DMX Moving Head Lets Clubs Take "Next Step" In Lighting Effects

LOS ANGELES - Now any club that wants to present an edgier, more electrifying visual environment can move up to today's hot 3D-like moving head effects. American DJ has introduced the Auto Spot 150, a 6-channel intelligent DMX moving head fixture, loaded with dazzling colors and gobo images, that has been designed and priced for smaller and mid-size clubs.

One of today's hottest trends in club lighting, moving head fixtures are those in which the entire yoke or head rotates, rather than just an internal mirror moving. This total head rotation produces lighting effects that span out over a much broader area, and have a more "layered" three-dimensional-like appearance.

Priced at just $1199.95 suggested retail, the Auto Spot 150 has been designed to bring this spectacular, cutting-edge lighting technology to smaller and mid-sized establishments. On par with the moving heads used by famous nightclubs throughout the world, the Auto Spot 150 is equipped with a full range of advanced and premium features. It includes high-quality stepper motors for fast, smooth movements, and a 150-watt discharge lamp for ultra-intense brightness.

Whatever the size or configuration of the venue, the Auto Spot 150's moving head will beam out full-area coverage. The fixture has a pan movement of 540 degrees (full movement in 2.8 seconds) and a tilt movement 270 degrees (full movement in 1.6 seconds). Its micro-stepping motors provide fast, precise pan and tilt, along with ultra-smooth color and gobo transitions.

The Auto Spot 150 also offers a seemingly endless range of visual possibilities and eye-popping combinations. Featuring independent wheels for colors and gobos, it comes equipped with 7 variable-speed rotating gobos plus a spot-all replaceable. There are 9 richly saturated dichroic colors plus white, and for even more variety and excitement, two-tone split colors can be produced. The Auto Spot 150 also includes a variable strobe with a dimmer and shutter for super-fast strobing.

American DJ designed the Auto Spot 150 to allow smaller and mid-size clubs to "elevate their visual environment to the next level," said Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies. "A lot of neighborhood-type establishments want to create the type of atmosphere that will make them stand out as a hot, trendy place to be, and there's no better way to do this than with moving head lighting effects.

"Viewing moving head effects, you feel like you're inside a light show, rather than just watching it," added Davies. "It's like going on a visual ride. Even if you've never heard the term `moving head,' you can tell just by looking that it's different than a conventional effect."

Along with producing totally enveloping cutting-edge effects, the Auto Spot 150 was designed for ease and flexibility of operation. It comes equipped with its own built-in programs and can be operated in 3 modes: with a DMX controller, Sound Activation Mode, or Master/Slave Mode linked to other units. The Auto Spot 150 includes a Smart Sense feature that automatically recognizes if the unit is in DMX or Master/Slave Mode, eliminating the need for the operator to manually select a setting.

When in Sound Activation Mode, the Auto Spot 150 will move to the beat of the music via its own internal programs. A Volume Sensitivity Knob is included to control the degree of intensity with which the unit responds to sound.

The Auto Spot 150 features a standard 13 degree focused beam angle and a manual focus lens. It comes with an intensely bright LL-HTI150 150-watt 750-hour discharge lamp. The fixture weighs 29 lbs. and measures 14.75" x 11.5" x 17.75". Suggested retail price of the Auto Spot 150 is $1199.95.

"The Auto Spot 150 is priced extremely low for a full-featured moving head," said Davies. "We're proud of this fixture and how it reflects American DJ's ongoing commitment to make the latest industry technologies accessible to lighting users everywhere."
