American DJ Lights To Be Featured "On While You Were Out". Home Disco Makeover Segment To Air Friday April 30 On TLC

LOS ANGELES - When the popular home improvement TV show While You Were Out was asked to remodel a basement rec room belonging to the boyfriend of reigning Miss Alabama Catherine Crosby, they knew they were up against a real challenge. The room, which Crosby's boyfriend Tyler used to entertain his friends, resembled a "guys' club," with old frat house furniture, a pool table, beer signs and the like.

Crosby wanted the show's designers to transform this disaster-area into a sophisticated, spectacular home disco. One of the first items on the shopping list, according to While You Were Out location production coordinator Jessie Fuller, were some really terrific party lights.

Not very familiar with disco lighting herself, Fuller did her homework and decided to contact Los Angeles-based supplier American DJ for ideas and suggestions. "I looked around to find the best lighting company. After doing research on the internet and talking to people, I felt American DJ was definitely it," said Fuller. "Then once I started working with them, I knew I made the right choice. I didn't know a thing about disco lights, and they were so helpful and wonderful to work with."

With input from the company's lighting experts, Fuller selected two American DJ all-in-one lighting packages for the rec room makeover:

LS-50/A - A portable lighting package containing four 150-watt par cans, color gels, a light stand and sound-activated chase controller.

Party Pak - A party lighting kit with 4 varied effects: Vertigo multi-colored sound activated beam effect; Laser Widow red laser; 25-watt strobe light; and aotating police light.

These American DJ effects played a key role in the revamping of Tyler's rec room and will be featured on While You Were Out on Friday April 30. The segment is scheduled to air at either 8 or 9 pm Eastern Time on The Learning Channel (TLC).

Viewers will definitely be impressed with the transformation of the room, said Fuller. "Now it's a place where Catherine (Crosby) can bring her girlfriends." Gone is the old frat house atmosphere, replaced by a stylish home disco that can rival any trendy dance club. Decorated in a purple color scheme, the room has a good-sized dance floor with a "T" in the center for "Tyler."

Then, of course, there are the lights. "We positioned the American DJ lights all over the room," said Fuller. "They added so much to the atmosphere."

Fuller was so taken with the lights that she also used them as a backdrop for show host Evan Farmer's final comments at the end of the segment. "We took the lights out of the house and set them up in the backyard for Evan's wrap-up. This is unusual for us to do, but we liked the lights so much that we wanted to show them again!"

Scott Davies, General Manager of the American DJ Group of Companies, said that his company was "thrilled and honored" to be involved in a While You Were Out room makeover. "We were very flattered that such a popular and well-produced show chose our products and our company," Davies commented. "We take pride in providing excellent service to customers of all types, and we were happy to be able to work with the show and accommodate their needs. Needless to say, this will also be great exposure for our lighting products."
