LOS ANGELES -- American DJ has taken some of its "crown jewels" to the next generation. The company has introduced new versions of four of its most popular lighting effects -- the Jewel III, Mini-Gem II, Sparkle II, and Crystal II -- giving them a completely renovated exterior case design.
All four of these legendary lighting gems are moonflower-type effects. When first introduced, their innovative design set new standards for affordability and ease-of-operation in DJ and club lighting.
The new case design offers even greater user-friendliness, providing easier access to the effects' lamp and dichro dish. This makes it more convenient for DJs to change the lamp, or add an optional multi-color dichroic mirror. By adding such a mirror, the moonflowers can be transformed from casting all-white or single-color beams, to producing a glittering combination of four jeweltones -- red, blue, green and yellow.

Similar in the effects they create, the Jewel III, Mini-Gem II, Sparkle II, and Crystal II all cast a dazzling moonflower pattern that resembles gleaming beams of light radiating from a precious gemstone. All come with a clear-color mirror, as well as a four pack of pre-cut color gels that can be added to transform the white beams into spectacular single colors of red, blue, green, & yellow. The effects can also create four different colored beams simultaneously when used with an optional Z-DW, Z-DW1 or Z-DW2 multi-color dichroic mirror, available separately from American DJ.
Although they're similar in appearance, Jewel III, Mini-Gem II, Sparkle II, and Crystal II offer different features and prices to accommodate a variety of lighting and budget needs:
*Jewel III (suggested retail $139.95) -- A sound-activated effect, the Jewel III is great for dance clubs and bands, casting beams of light that rotate back and forth to the beat of the music. It comes with an ultra-powerful ZB-64514 120V 300W lamp for a super-bright, high-energy light show.
*Mini-Gem II (suggested retail $99.95) -- A highly affordable sound-activated effect, the Mini-Gem II features a less intense lamp (ZB-64610 12V 50W) than the Jewel III, but the same exciting rotating movement that chases the music's beat.
*Sparkle II (suggested retail $74.95) -- A non-sound-activated rotating moonflower, the Sparkle II's light beams gyrate back and forth throughout the room, independent of the music. It comes with the same ZB-6461012V 50W lamp as the Mini-Gem II.
The Jewel III, Mini-Gem II, Sparkle II all measure 6" x 6" x 10" and weigh 3 lbs., making them extremely portable and ideal for mobile use. All are fan-cooled and come with a hanging bracket for easy mounting
*Crystal II (suggested retail $59.95) -- A static non-rotating moonflower, the Crystal II is even more compact than the other three, with dimensions of 4.75" x 4.75" x 7" and a weight of just 2.5 lbs. Featuring a ZB-64610 12V 50W lamp, the Crystal II's extremely affordable price makes it great for home parties, as well as professional use. It is fan-cooled and includes a hanging bracket.
The optional Z-DW, Z-DW1 or Z-DW2 multi-color dichroic mirrors that can be used with the four effects are sold separately at a suggested retail price of $19.95 each.
