LOS ANGELES -- Now any working DJ can get "behind the wheel" of an advanced light show, without having to rev up big bucks for intelligent DMX lighting. American DJ has introduced the Advanced Drive Series, an exciting new concept that features four affordable, dynamic lighting effects -- the Cosmic, Epsilon, O Dome and Raider -- which link together and operate in sync to the beat of the music.
Each fixture in the Advanced Drive Series is equipped with built-in programming that allows it to communicate with the others during operation. The mobile DJ can hook them up together in any combination using simple XLR connectors to create a customized light show in seconds, without having to program a complex DMX lighting controller.
"Our Advanced Drive Series puts instant light shows in the hands of the mobile DJ, band, small club or anyone who wants an advanced light show with more than just one or two effects," said Scott Davies, general manager of the American DJ Group of Cos. "And with the programming already built-in, they're incredibly simple to use. Just link the effects together via the XLR connections, turn on the music, and watch them do their thing."
In addition to being able to mix and match any of the four Advanced Drive models currently available, DJs will have the option of linking new models that will be added to the series in the future. This makes the Advanced Drive series "expandable," which adds to its great lighting value.
The Cosmic, Epsilon, O Dome and Raider cast a variety of multi-colored beams with distinctly different effects. Each offers two sound-activation modes that can be set to follow the beat of the music at slow or fast tempos.
The Cosmic (suggested retail $119.95) produces 52 rich, sharp beams of multi-colored light that crisscross and move back and forth in a manner similar to American DJ's popular Color Sphere. The Cosmic's color ball rotates 10 times per minute.
The Epsilon (suggested retail $129.95) creates 30 beams of multi-colored light that rotate and crisscross back and forth. It is similar to the acclaimed Vertigo effect from American DJ.
The O Dome (suggested retail $219.95) covers a wide area of the dance floor with 51 loop-shaped light beams that move back and forth, crisscrossing each other on the floor.
The Raider (suggested retail $199.95) also covers a wide area. Similar to American DJ's popular Aggressor effect, it produces 32 dazzling beams of crisscrossing light that cover the dance floor with a stunning shower of color.
The concept of four linkable lighting effects is nothing new for American DJ. Existing systems like the Saturn 4 and Luna 4 feature four identical fixtures moving in sync for a turnkey light show. The new Advanced Drive Series, however, makes it possible to link up four completely different effects and opens the door to a whole new world of synchronized lighting combinations. And while the other systems come as four-head packages, components of the Advanced Drive Series are sold separately.
"The Advanced Drive Series contains all the components a DJ or club owner needs to add crowd-pleasing visual excitement to their venue with an instant, exhilarating light show," Davies said. "It takes the idea of multi-head, synchronized lighting to the next level."
The Advanced Drive Series also includes the convenient option of a blackout controller (sold separately), which allows all effects to be turned off from the DJ booth or bar. Other convenient features of American DJ's Advanced Drive effects include mounting plates for easy installation and reliable circuit breaker protection.
