At the heart of ADJ’s success over the company’s 35+ year history has always been its people. This dedicated and close-knit community of skilled, experienced, and passionate women and men all share the common goal of designing, manufacturing, selling, and supporting the best mid-market entertainment lighting, LED video, and atmospheric effects equipment possible. Each installment in this series of short interviews shines a spotlight on one individual from the team, giving an insight into who they are, what they do, and how they care for ADJ customers on a daily basis. This time we meet Sergio Cervantes, who has been a part of the ADJ team for over 20 years and currently heads up the service department at the company’s LA headquarters.
How long have you been a part of the ADJ team?
I have been part of the ADJ team for an amazing and enjoyable 23 years.
What is your job title?
My job title is ADJ Service Manager, although I hold many responsibilities throughout the company.
What is your job function that allows you to show you care for our customers?
My ultimate goal is customer satisfaction, which I can only achieve by having a great team. I do my best to encourage and motivate our entire service team. I have worked hard to develop a culture of trust, which results in strong and effective communication. All of this provides the needed platform for a strong support system which allows us to deliver great customer service on a daily basis.
What do you like most about your job?
What I enjoy most about my job is the ability to help people. I am fortunate enough to be able to do so while making a living.
What hobbies / interests do you have outside work?
Some of my many hobbies include being a sports fan and barbecuing. I follow all our local teams, including basketball (Los Angeles Lakers), baseball (Los Angeles Dodgers) and football (Las Vegas Raiders). I have several barbecue grills and smokers which keep me busy when I am not working. I also enjoy fishing and spending time with my family.
What is something you’ve done or accomplished that people might not know about you?
My greatest accomplishment is being a dad. I believe it to be my highest calling and one that I take very seriously. It continues to be an amazing journey and something that truly defines who I am. I became a father at a young age, and although it was a challenge, it has been more rewarding than anything I could ever imagine. I now have four beautiful children and recently became a grandfather.
