I have a dmx operator and the lights move on their own.

Reverse the polarity switch on the back of your controller to:
1 ground 2 data - (neg) 3 data + (pos)

I Just purchased this DMX controller. I'm kind of new to lighting so do I have to have some kind of DMX converter or can I plug this controller directly to a light and control it?

You just have to plug the controller into the first light with a 3 pin cable and follow the instructions.

How can I use this controller as a dimmer for stage lighting? no motion, no chase. I have a need for only 8 channels.

Hello Larry,

Yes, you can use this controller to dim down stage lighting. Let me know if you have any further questions.

I have the DMX Operator. I am plugging in standard Uplights. I set my uprights to channel one. My second to channel 17. The third to channel 31 etc. But, when I plug them in to the DMX Operator, they just randomly flash... improperly. IT doesn't matter what channel i turn on or off on the Operator, it doesn't effect the uplight. Is there something I'm missing? I even try just plugging in one light, but I still get same response. Inluding replacing the xlr cables.. no difference. I bought the Amzdeal 18w RGB uplights. I also just bought the ADJ Operator, but can't seem to figure out how to get it to control the lights. I've looked in youtube and other forums. Seems I'm doing everything correctly - but simply not working.

How long is the DMX run in total and are you using a DMX terminator?
